September 2011 was a great month for comic books. Marvel Comics, DC Comics and the other three big Comic book company’s Image, IDW and Dark Horse Comics released several first issue series comic books. Blackhawks, John Carter and the Princess of Mars and Mister Terrific to name a few.
September 2011 brought the highly anticipated DC Comics New 52. DC Comics consolidated and re-launched their comic lines, discontinuing some series, and introduced all new series, that resulted in 52 new comic book titles, each comic starting with a new #1. This consolidation included the historic incorporation of the Wildstorm Universe roster of characters and the reintegration of certain Vertigo comic book characters back into the mainstream of the DC Universe. The event takes its name from the company's thematic associations with the number 52, which began with the publication of the weekly series 52, in which it was revealed that a Multiverse of 52 parallel realities existed within in the DC Universe. Each week throughout the month of September 2011 DC Comics released a number of titles, giving comic book fans plenty of time to collect the whole New 52 comic book collection.
September 2011 was a great month for comic book sales with a whopping $414 million dollars in sale and the top three comic books that month were Justice League, Batman and Action Comics.
